Why
Choose Mid Sussex?
In Mid Sussex
we believe that everyone learns best in a friendly,
supportive and enthusiastic environment. We are lucky to be
surrounded by beautiful countryside and lovely villages
whilst having quick and easy rail access both to Brighton
and London. Many of our trainees live in Brighton and
commute easily.
All our trainees have 20 months in General Practice, 4
months in each of the ST1 and 2 years, then 12 months in
ST3. We have a wide variety of hospital posts including O&G,
Paediatrics, A&E, ENT, Opthalmology, Psychiatry, Medicine,
GUM and Orthopaedics. Some of our jobs are based in the
Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
Our Day Release is on Thursday mornings in the Princess
Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. We plan our Day Release
sessions around the stated needs of the trainees and provide
a variety of learning experiences, including groups,
question and answer sessions from local consultants and days
out for example to a local hospice. We finish the morning
with lunch together and have a competitive coffee rota with
nice cakes and biscuits. Our trainees tell us that they look
forward to Thursdays and when they have finished they stay
in touch with the scheme and with each other.
We have 28 trainers, some very experienced and some new, but
all enthusiastic about training and about General Practice.
Every six weeks a trainer/trainee pair organise an evening
for all trainees and trainers which is both educational and
social.
We are separate from but closely linked to the Brighton VTS
scheme.
We share two enjoyable residential workshops a year
with them. |
